Contemporary dance combines technique from ballet, and modern and Lyrical and is typically is highly demanding where stage presence is concerned. Apologia’s contemporary classes will be hyper-focused on proper technique. Contemporary dance style provides a certain freedom of expression and movement not often found in more traditional styles of dance. The combination of acrobatics and contemporary dance opens the door to new experiences in expression, confidence, and joy in dancing.
Ballet is the foundation of most modern day dance forms. This beautiful and demanding technique is a necessity for all young, aspiring dancers. Barre work is an essential part of ballet class. It establishes correct placement, and it develops core and leg strength. Center exercises are similar to barre work except dancers do not have the support of the barre. In the center, you learn steps, positions and poses to gain a basic movement vocabulary of ballet
